Acknowledgement to Country
Banyula-B wishes to take the opportunity to express an acknowledgement of Country, and pay respect, to the Traditional Owners and ongoing custodians of the land – the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
As the founder of Banyula-B I take the opportunity to express an acknowledgement of Country, and pay my respects, to the Traditional Owners and ongoing custodians of the land – the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
Thankyou to the Traditional Owners past and present for providing the opportunity to learn about, and celebrate, their rich culture. To be given the knowledge is an honour that is humbly respected and recognised as privilege.
Personally, I thank the Gunggari women, of the Maranoa River, Mitchell South West Queensland who were my best friends when I was a child of the outback, many of whom remain my friends today . I have had the privilege to learn from the traditional People of the Northern Territory; painters of the Arrernte people in Central Australia, the Jawoyn people of Katherine, and the Yolngu people of north-eastern Arnhem Land.
Giving back is important. One of the long term goals of this project is to help close the employment gap for Aboriginal and other Australians by developing new enterprises that provide jobs and livelihoods and contributing to improving the education and training pathways for them and their families.
